Who are we?

Power Design Technologies SA is an electrical engineering software publisher specialized in power electronics. The company was founded in 2016 in Toulouse, France, as a spin-off company of the Laplace Laboratory, a mixed research unit of CNRS, INP Toulouse, and Paul Sabatier University.

Our story

Our team of 5 met at the Laplace research lab, where our passion for electrical power converter design gathered us around a common goal. We all shared one belief: electricity is one of the keys to a successful energy transition. So we decided to use our expertise for the benefit of society.
Our objective is the spread of a new generation of power converters with a reduced environmental footprint: more efficient (less energy loss), lighter and more compact (less base material). In order to push the boundaries of current performances, we seek to develop new approaches and  offer the first computer-based conception tool dedicated to companies that want to offer the most performing products of the market.
Power Design Technologies offers PowerForge, a CAE platform that allows you to design power converters that are twice as compact, with half the weight and losses of traditional solutions (two-level converters). To achieve this, PowerForge takes full advantage of the latest innovations in the field, including groundbreaking multilevel technology.

Awards and recognition

In 2015, the startup project was nominated in the I-LAB competition (emergence category) organized by the French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research and Bpifrance, and won 1st prize in the Concours Etudiant Entrepreneur organized by Fonds de l’Université Toulouse 1 Capitole.

In 2017, Power Design Technologies' CEO, Nicolas Videau, received the INP Innov' award in the "jeune entrepreneur innovant" (young innovative entrepreneur) category.
